Pizza we love in New York

I'll say it, a controversial post to say the least. In New York, you could visit a new pizzeria everyday for seven years straight and probably still have more pizza to eat. I won't say these are 'the best' pizzerias, but rather, these are the ones that I love. I'm always on the hunt for new pizza that surprises and delights. I will heed with caution, tourists, please please don't go to the 99cent pizza places, they're not worth that $1 or the calories. Saddle up, pay $5 and get a good slice.

  1. Mama's Too: Delicious Focaccia dripping with Olive Oil in square slices straight out of the oven. This place has recently received critical acclaim, so although not far from my own apartment, I've had to be selective about the times I go to avoid the lines. I recommend the classic pepperoni, but basically, grab as many friends as you can, buy a bunch of different slices and tuck in. Warning to the wise, it is hotttttttt. I think the last time I burned a complete layer off the roof of my mouth. Address: 2750 Broadway, New York, NY 10025

  2. Joe's - the quintessential NY slice and pretty much, there's something wrong with you if you don't like Joe's. Good sauce, cheese, and great location in the Village makes this a New York mainstay that isn't going away anytime soon. Address: 7 Carmine Street

  3. Motorino- Naples style pizza with some twist on traditional ingredients. I'd recommend getting a red pizza and a white pizza. For Red sauces, I'm partial to the Sopressata, but my overall fav has a white sauce and the Brussel Sprout pizza is something special. They have three locations in NYC: East Village, Williamsburg, and Upper West Side. Great lunch time specials

  4. Ovest Pizzoteca- A great Chelsea joint on a side street and looks like it was in an old garage. There's foosball, Peroni on tap, and great pizza. I recommend a pizza and one of their great salads with some beers for a group on a Saturday afternoon. Address: 513 W 27th St, New York, NY 10001.

  5. Emporio- Nolita mainstay with great pizza and pasta dishes. You can also get things full-gluten (cue the drool) or gluten free as well. It's a great date place or a dinner with friends as there's that perfect evening light from the skylight in the dining room. Address: 231 Mott St, New York, NY 10012
