Hotel Providence Paris- All the Details

Updated: Sep 13, 2019

Our recent trip to Paris was heavenly, partially to all the details at our hotel.

Paris, one of the best cities in the world. There's such an overwhelming amount of hotel choices. Sure, there's the George V and other 5-star options, but I usually opt for something with character. I don't want to stay in purely a touristy area, but an area that also has locals, interesting eating options, close to the Metro, and for me, what is especially important is a hotel that has character. I want the hotel to actually feel, Parisian.

I researched a lot of different options and settled on Hotel Providence. We were not disappointed.

From the moment you check in at Hotel Providence, you're greeted like an old friend and you are taken up to your room. There are only 18 rooms in the whole hotel, each room having its own details. Ours had exquisite velvet finishes and modern, yet retro designs with dark green lush ferns. It felt luxurious. The bathroom felt like you were in an upgraded, but yet classically 1920's bathroom equipped with beautiful porcelain tiles and freshly polished chrome accessories. Everything was beautiful and classic, yet completely updated and renovated.

Your minibar is somewhat of a mixologists dream with all sorts of liquors and mixers that you could dream of, including citrus. Hotel Providence also equips you with a phone that you can call any country, look up recommended dining and bar options, and all other Parisian tips. I had never seen a kind of service like this and I'll admit using a Samsung took some getting used to, but we found it very useful as our data on our other phones were low.

The rooms aren't large, but I live in NYC, and honestly how much time do you really want to spend in your room? The balcony was ideal for an afternoon glass of wine in between museum visits and scoping out the next place for macarons.

We personally loved the neighborhood. Metro is Strasbourg Saint-Denis or Republique. We spent a lot of time in the Marais, but there was also some funky areas around the hotel with cool restaurants and bars and especially enjoyed cocktails at Copperbay. The area isn't so manicured that it seems sterile, but instead reminded us of Brooklyn or parts of East London that have gentrified and great dining destinations, but still some welcomed grit. We felt completely safe and loved this area.

... and the breakfast was amazing too with miniature Staub cookware with baked eggs along with pain au chocolat, fruit, and other Parisian delicacies.

My rating: 4 1/2 stars. Great for a romantic weekend for discerning couples that want something cool without trying too hard.
